1.) Santa Margarita (6-0); Last week: def. Servite 21-0

Three weeks ago, SM's matchup with Bruce Rollinson and Mater Dei looked like a fairly easy game. With star quarterback Johnny Stanton out and the Monarchs suddenly playing good football, anything is possible. Can the Eagles hang with resurgent Mater Dei? Our guess is SM finds a way to get the job done and remain undefeated.

2.) Vista Murrieta (6-0); Last week: def. Temecula Valley 58-14

The Broncos let Temecula Valley hang around last week early before scoring 44 unanswered first-half points to pull away from the Golden Bears. The following weeks will be tougher, as the Broncos' next three opponents sport a combined record of 16-2.

3.) St. John Bosco (2-4); Last week: def. Orange Lutheran 21-6

The Braves had some trouble containing OLu quarterback Luke Langdon on the ground (15 carries, 77 yards, 1 TD), but they had no trouble stifling the Lancers' passing game. Langdon completed less than half of his passes on the night, throwing for only 39 yards with an interception. The Braves shut out Orange Lutheran in the second half, and looked impressive doing so.

4.) St. Bonaventure (6-1); Last week: def. Simi Valley 42-0

The Seraphs took a break from their methodical style of football, whipping Simi Valley last week on several long scoring plays. Running back Zachary Green got things started with an 85-yard receiving score, which was followed by a 65-yard strike to Nicholas Rodriguez. A 90-yard defensive score and a 55-yard punt return capped off the first half scoring for Bonny.

5.) Mission Viejo (6-0); Last week: Idle

With Tesoro struggling, Mission Viejo looks like the clear-cut favorite in the South Coast League. They'll get a chance to prove that this week at San Clemente, a team that has lost three straight after opening up the season with four consecutive wins.

6.) Centennial (5-1); Last week: def. Corona 61-24

The Huskies just wouldn't be denied through the air against a struggling Corona secondary, completing five aerial scores last week. This week's rivalry game against Norco should be emotional, but the Cougars are coming off two straight losses and may not have enough firepower to seriously challenge Centennial.

7.) Crespi (7-0); Last week: def. Loyola 20-7

The Celts failed to score at least 3 points for the first time this season, but still managed to handle Loyola. The offense will have a chance to get back on track Friday night against Notre Dame, whose defense surrendered 49 points to Alemany last week.

8.) Tesoro (6-0); Last week: def. Trabuco Hills 35-28

Head coach Brian Barnes has to be a little concerned with how his team has played throughout the first half of the season. Despite playing a fairly easy schedule, the Titans have allowed lesser teams to stick around, as four of the team's six opponents have had chances to win the game late. Tesoro came out with the “W” every time, but the Titans might not be so lucky this week facing El Toro and top quarterback Conner Manning.

9.) Alemany (6-1); Last week: def. Notre Dame 49-42

The Warriors are matched up with the team right beneath them in the Southern Section Top 10 this week. One of the teams will be out of the rankings; can Alemany find a way to win at home? They'll need to be better on defense than they were last week (42 points allowed vs. Notre Dame) to stay in the Top 10.

10.) Bishop Amat(5-0-1); Last week: Idle

The Lancers got two weeks to prepare for No. 9 Alemany this week. It will be interesting to see what head coach Steve Hagerty is able to implement given the extra time to prepare.

Just Missed:: Mater Dei, Serra, El Toro
