BLOG: Bye Gives Wynn Week to Observe

Throughout the 2008 season, will post blog entries submitted by standouts from around the state. This one comes courtesy of Jordan Wynn, Colorado commitment and senior quarterback at state reigning champion Oceanside.
To all the viewers:
This week for Oceanside is a bye, and the bye-week is somewhat important. Not only do you get a week off to rejuvenate and rest up, but it's also a week to get better.
Here at Oceanside, coaches stress the need to continue to work hard and get better, and not waste the bye-week with bad practices. Although we have the week off, other teams have been practicing hard for their games, so it's vital to have good practices to stay up to par.
It can be difficult though. It's hard sometimes to get practice going when there's nothing to look forward to on Friday night. However, to be a great team you have to have self-discipline and self-motivation -- something we are showing this week in practice.
One thing that has made it easier to practice was our huge win last Friday against then-No. 2 Mira Mesa. Offensively, we played nearly a perfect game, and I had a career-night throwing for 356 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Two of our receivers, Demario Coleman and Osmond Nicholas, had over 100 yards receiving, and I spread the ball around to different guys. It was a great win and it has carried over to practice this week.
Colorado, my future school, plays Florida State tomorrow -- should be a good game. And then next weekend is my official trip, when they go up against Texas, which I'm greatly looking forward to.
Good luck to everyone tonight.
